What are functional exercises and why are they more beneficial than traditional gym routines?

‘Functional’ in this sense means having the ability to move your body the way it’s designed to move and giving you freedom to enjoy a more active and healthy lifestyle. Why is an effective warm up so important before every workout?

Taking your body from a state of rest to demanding activities requires activation of a number of internal systems within the body and I‘m not just talking about your heart rate. Your brain (central nervous stystem) is the primary mechanisim during exercise and this needs just as much attention before exercise.

A dynamic warm-up consists of series of movements (including bouncing and skipping) that are designed to actively prepare the muscles for functional exercise (sports, outdoor activities, etc.) and is performed in a safe and controlled manner.
The continuous movements keep you warm and provide aerobic benefits while preparing your mind for the upcoming activity. The advantages of such a warm-up include improved coordination and are usually specific to the actions of the main activity.
